361° Meraki 3

Running brands design many different models to touch as many people as possible who do the sport. What’s the point in having such a large range? This can bring confusion sometimes differentiating between two particular models, which is the case between the Meraki 3 and the 361° Spire, two shoes that seem to be very alike.

To help you see the difference we tried both models, in the same conditions.

The 361° Meraki 3 is much more direct, you notice better lateral stability with a good solid foot strike. The cushioning is also different: it is firmer. It is distributed progressively between the rear and the fore of the shoe, but a little more obvious in the heel. You can unleash yourself and you won’t be taken by surprise, they cushion well. The forefoot gives good spring and a good combination between comfort and performance. If you run the 361° Meraki 3 fore foot, you can really go fast. These are definitely performance oriented.

Superb fore foot precision probably due to the sole but also the mesh that is less flexible and so deforms less laterally across the metatarsals.

Over all we found that these Meraki 3 l’ADN 361° were comfortable, fun and efficient.

Bizarrely if you look at the price, the Meraki 3 l’ADN 361° are cheaper than the 361° Spire, 134.99 euros and the latter are159.99 euros.

Something else that is strange, the Meraki 3’s sole is grippier than the 361° Spire 4. There is also a very lightweight stone guard so useful in slightly technical or forest tracks.

Foot support is excellent, especially thanks to the laces that distribute the pressure well combined with a good tongue. The oval laces don’t slide right up to the forefoot, you need to adjust them.  The length is just right and no need for a double knot. The heel is particularly well-designed to hold your heel down without pinching. There is plenty of thick foam padding around the entire ankle zone.

Manufacturing quality is excellent, a 361° trademark: assemblies, materials, with no visible stitching – sheer excellence.

The Meraki 3 are designed to run fast, but not only that. They are comfortable and cushioned. Performant on long outings and made with the utmost care.

We tested the very first Meraki version.
