We’ve tested nearly all the 361° Meraki versions. Here’s the number 4. Nothing revolutionary, just a natural continuity. We have a shoe that adapts to many runners to run comfortably on most distances.
The 361° Meraki 4 is very sound in its effects. The foot strike is direct but not brutal, your foot doesn’t slide around, and the cushioning is present without being spongy. The shoe doesn’t lose energy because the hard point is reached quickly. But the cushioning is present, obviously more noticeable at the heel. The transition from heel to forefoot is smooth. What you might think is a carbon plate underfoot is in fact fiberglass. This 361° Meraki 4 helps you run fast even if it is, in pure speed, well below a carbon shoe or some classically designed racing beasts. Its main strengths are adaptability and comfort: you forget you’re wearing it.
You could without doubt make this 361° Meraki 4 a little lighter than the 300g listed in size 42.5.
The heel and ankle area is particularly well designed with thick and cozy foam padding. Ditto for the metatarsals that are pampered with a very breathable mesh that respects your toes’ movements. You lose a bit of precision but it’s very pleasant.
The laces are precise and powerful. Even if the padded tongue does its job, you need to be careful when adjusting the lacing pressure.
Manufacturing is the usual 361°: seamless, impeccable assemblies, quality materials, stunning perceived quality. All this for a very reasonable price.
What didn’t we like about this 361° Meraki 4? A lack of character, bounce? But this also makes it successful: a fast shoe but comfortable, that you even forget you’re wearing after you’ve run several kilometers.
