Product Test: Arc’teryx Fissile SV Jacket
This incredible Arc’teryx Fissile SV ski jacket is not only the warmest in the brand’s collection — it’s also likely the most expensive: €1100! That said, it’s a truly exceptional product that performed flawlessly in -20°C conditions on the Tignes glacier. Its design and the premium materials used contribute to outstanding thermal insulation. We tested it alongside the matching Arc’teryx Fissile Pant.
At its core, the Fissile SV is a hybrid down jacket using 750 fill-power down along with Primaloft insulation in moisture-prone areas. This mix, despite the jacket’s bulky appearance, keeps the weight reasonable at 1200 grams.
Its exceptional warmth is also due to the jacket’s advanced construction: a laminated box-wall baffle design that eliminates thermal bridging — unlike traditional sewn-through down jackets. The insulation is evenly distributed across the jacket with generous thickness throughout.
The Gore-Tex membrane offers excellent protection against wet snow and strong winds. While durability appears solid, only extended use will confirm how well it stands up to ski edge cuts and general abrasion.
Despite its bulk, the Arc’teryx Fissile SV is impressively comfortable and truly enjoyable to wear — the “duvet comfort” is remarkable.
The wrist Velcros are strong, the integrated snow skirt is well-designed, and every feature on the Fissile SV is thoughtful and premium. The underarm ventilation zippers are waterproof, and the main front zipper is protected by a storm flap.
The collar height is spot-on, and the removable hood fits over a helmet.
