This fabulously enthusiastic Black Crows Orb Freebird ski wins our First Award hands-down.
This is a ‘multi-category’ and ‘multi-turns’ ski! It can sit quite happily in the All Mountain category enjoying off-piste, as well as ski touring thanks to its feather lightness and its flexibility on compact snow as well as powder.
You could even include it in the Freeride category even though it isn’t a very wide ski. You immediately feel good on these Black Crows, the ski is fluid and enjoyable. There is comfort and performance both on- and off-piste. We were surprised by the grip on hard snow and its ability to carve, and change the radius of the turns safely. In deep snow, it is both playful and stable. Of course, its width is limiting in deep or difficult snow, which causes you to brake a little. But overall it is practically unbeatable in every aspect. This is a free rando reference ski. Don’t miss it!
