The harness is the mainstay of a climber’s equipment. Everything starts and ends here. The Momentum model from Black Diamond fulfills its function perfectly. It is comfortable with a waist belt that is wide enough without being overloaded on the back, or rubbing. The adjustment system is ultra-fast and precise. You adjust it in the blink of an eye thanks to the sliding buckle system around the thighs and a pre-attached buckle at the waist that ensures complete security for closing and adjustment.
The ergonomic form enables pretty good ventilation on the back and the construction spreads the pressure points to avoid compression zones! The rear elastic riser is adjustable and detachable, which proves to be a very practical idea when nature calls! There is also a hoisting buckle at the back which can be used as an added attachment system for shoes, water bottle, another rope, etc. The four gear loops are big enough to carry plenty of carabiners and they are evenly spread out on the harness to balance the weight. They are made from pressure-molded plastic and thanks to the appropriate diameter allow you to clip and unclip the carabiners without the risk of trapping a finger.
All these specifications create a great harness for long pitches where you can be left hanging on an anchor. Its modest weight is perfect company for single pitch routes or mountaineering. This is a hardwearing, good quality, multi-purpose harness at a reasonable price. Reliable and tough, with a discrete, (or some may say austere) look.
