The Chaussette de France adds a model to its Trail and Ultra Trail running range by turning the Kailash into a Pro version. They have worked on the ergonomics and flap is added ( a tongue above the heel that stops small stones from going into your shoes). Designed for Spring and Autumn use, there is the bio ceramics for thermoregulation.
Like many sports models, these Kailash PRO are anatomically designed and so there is a left and right foot. There are three colors blue/yellow/red.
The Kailash PRO seems thick to the touch, obviously oriented towards colder temperatures: they are loyal to the brand and its specifications. This feeling of heat is reinforced by the fact they are mid-high socks.
Quality fiber that seems very tough, which is useful on demanding terrain that is often encountered out trail running. The different mesh areas are easily recognizable by their different colors. Inside you find some loops that are too long but they don’t seem to make the stitching weaker, needs checking after several uses.
They are a bit tight when you first wear them, but this feeling disappears after use, the textile slides easily onto your foot and the small loops inside aren’t irritating. The sock quickly fits your foot’s anatomy. You aren’t compressed and they feel very comfortable straight away.
Shoes are easy to slide on, do remember though that these are thicker socks for colder temperatures.
Out running they are extremely comfortable and the thermoregulation works perfectly. You don’t feel the cold, ankles and the base of the calves are well-protected. After several miles sweat evacuates efficiently, of course depending on the type and style of your shoes.
The Flap at the rear works really well, you don’t realize when running but when you go to take them off you see the collection of gravel that could’ve ended up in your shoes. The question arises if you wear calf sleeves if that could be a problem with too much thickness with the calf sleeves underneath.
After several outings and washes the socks haven’t changed a bit, except due to slight rubbing in the shoes or rubbing against branches or roots for example, but they resist tearing without problem.
These PRO version of the Kailash will surely delight many trail runners and ultra-runners who are looking for comfort and good protection. Designed for Autumnal and Spring weather they can be useful in high mountain climate running throughout the year.
