This thin insulation layer still provides a surprising amount of warmth; the Columbia Crystal Leaf Omni-Heat Helix is definitely warmer than its slim profile would suggest. The feel against the skin isn’t particularly soft—you can sense the 3D texture. But of course, you generally wear a first layer underneath, which eliminates this sensation.
The Columbia Crystal Leaf Omni-Heat Helix features a half-zip and a fairly close-fitting cut. It doesn’t stretch out like typical fleece fabric, nor does it pill. The material is slightly stretchy.
Well finished, it includes thumb loops. We used it for hiking and skiing.
