Designed for going high over the top of your jacket cuffs to ensure maximum protection in powder, the Helly Hansen Ullr Sogn HT Glove didn’t show any weakness in their waterproofness. We looked closely at the area where there’s plenty of stitching and the Helly Hanson designers have kept the Helly Tech®Performance stitching that guarantee water tightness.
The Helly Hansen Ullr Sogn HT gloves provide average warmth. Their insulation is really designed for arctic temperatures but for most situations in a season they are fine. We also tested the Helly Hansen Alpha Warm HT that go up a little less further on your arms.
The Ullr Sogn HT go on easily even with slightly damp fingers. We really liked and used the fluorescent strap that you hold when sliding your other hand inside the glove: really useful.
For all those manipulations when sitting on a ski lift, or when you’ve stopped, there’s an elastic loop that goes around your wrist so you don’t drop or lose your gloves.
Under the cuff there’s a wide adjustment strap, but as the gloves are so well-designed and the cut is perfect they stay in place without having to use it.
The gloves are soft so you have great precision with your fingers, adjusting buckles, jacket zips, putting your goggles on your helmet, etc. There aren’t any uncomfortable layers of stitching inside the gloves so they are really comfortable. Like the Helly Hansen Alpha Warm HT, we would’ve liked a bit more protection between the thumb and forefinger, as this zone is very sensitive to abrasion when carrying skis.
The Helly Hansen Ullr Sogn HT aren’t just gloves for powder. They are soft, comfortable and easy to put on and don’t obstruct any movements. A very good product that is manufactured with care and attention to detail.
