The French brand releases goggles at a competitive price but with high-level. This is why we gave this Julbo Alpha a FIRST Award. At a time when goggles are reaching stratospheric prices (for what is often a very limited lifespan, the lens can quickly get scratched), 90 euros is still reasonable.
These Julbo Alpha goggles look smart with optical quality. They are stylish, with a “frame” not totally “frameless” as listed but very discreet, nevertheless. That thin band that runs around the lens even protects it from bumps and scratches, which is a good thing.
They are quite big goggles, but they fit snugly under the helmet. They don’t make any squeaky sounds, and the foam padding is thick and comfortable, including on the nose area. There’s a classic wide strap, which holds the goggles on a helmet without slipping. The (dual) adjustment is efficient at the back of the head.
We tested this Julbo Alpha with a category 3 lens. The pink lens is very pleasant in cloudy weather. It defines good relief details. We didn’t notice any reflections on the inside of the lens. It is not designed for sunny excursions. The goggles’ structure is black, and the lens color don’t distract your view.
Lastly, the Julbo Alpha is light and is delivered with a fabric case.
Mission accomplished for this Julbo Alpha. Beautiful, well-designed goggles that can be forgotten due to their comfort and optical quality. They received a well-desrved FIRST Award.
