Tested in the 162 cm length with a narrow 72 mm waist and a 15-meter turn radius, the Kästle Quartz 72 stands out right away with its refined marble-effect graphics and lightweight feel in hand. Featuring a screwed-on tip protector and an elastomer tail insert, it sports a durable topsheet—though it lacks any grippy feature to help carry the skis. A well-finished women’s ski, built on paper to support smooth technical progression.
On snow, the Quartz 72 establishes itself as a remarkably docile, predictable, and user-friendly ski. Its sweet spot?Skidded and drifted turns driven from an upright stance. Disarmingly easy to pivot, it responds to the lightest steering inputs without ever oversteering. Lively and responsive enough underfoot to be called playful, it builds confidence right from the first run.
When the skier wants to explore the joys of carving and venture onto edge, the Quartz 72 delivers. On gentle slopes and blue runs, you can easily vary your turn radii by loading the forebody through boot-tongue pressure to bend the ski.Staying centered and properly positioned yields convincing edge grip through angled turns, while straight-line stability comes as a very pleasant surprise: the ski tracks true without wandering off line.
The Kästle Quartz 72 does, however, find its limits when the pace picks up or the slope steepens. Lacking heavy structural density underfoot, the tip begins to chatter and the ski deforms under high forces. Because it naturally builds up speed in carved turns, closing out turns on steeper terrain will require a more advanced technical touch.
