We really liked this ultra-lightweight protective jacket (190 grams in size M), which features several clever technical solutions.
The Millet INTENSE PRO 2.5L is clearly designed for trail running, striking an excellent balance between lightness, breathability, and waterproofing. It’s made from a stretch fabric base that moves comfortably with the body, adapting well to every motion. So, what makes it stand out?
It includes ventilation openings on the chest and back. The front vents work well to allow airflow, but the rear vents are often less effective since you’re typically wearing a pack while trail running.
One of the standout features is the waterproof zipper on the right side of the chest, designed to give you direct access to a hydration flask when you’re wearing a pack underneath the jacket. It’s a clever and highly practical solution.
We also really appreciated the hood design, which is particularly well thought out. It follows head movement without blocking peripheral vision, and the soft visor is well shaped. Wearing a headlamp with the hood poses no issues.
The treatment of the cuffs and hem is excellent, with elastic bands that provide both comfort and protection. Wearing a bulky GPS watch is not a problem. Reflective elements are also included for night visibility.
Kudos as well for the waterproof zippers, which operate smoothly.
In short, this is an outstanding trail running jacket — extremely lightweight, well-finished, and offering a great balance between waterproof protection and breathability. A deserving First Award from Test4Outside.
