Climbing gloves are basically designed to protect hands from burning or rubbing whilst maneuvering ropes, descending or assuring. The Beal model Rappel Gloves is all leather, ergonomic, a well-adjusted fit, yet keeping a great range of flexibility of movement. It is precise and comfortable, with second skin feel. One piece of leather is juxtaposed between the base of the fingers and the top of the palm reinforces this fragile zone due to the cord passage. This reinforced area could have maybe been better(if technically possible in this zone that deals with a lot of friction) if it was harmonized with the fingers, to avoid the leather becoming baggy when the leather stretches. A small detail, but important nevertheless, is the ring that enables the gloves to attach the carabiner to clip them to the harness. Several sizes available, remember that leather stretches a little, but don’t get them too small either. Slightly highly priced for this type of product but worth it, a long-term investment. Indispensable for assuring abseiling descents using the new types of ultra-thin diameters rope.
