A climbing beast, the lightness providing a time advantage… 710 grams on the scale in a 160-centimeter size. Ultra-light, indeed, but what about the descent? The skiability provides a certain comfort and also energy savings, especially when in a race where there’s a repetition of ascents and descents.
This Dynastar M-Pierra Menta is undoubtedly one of the most “accessible” ultra-light skis on the market. Why? Because its tip performs very well. Its rise is very progressive, it’s relatively flexible, it allows for absorption, filtering on the front in snow packs, in deep snow. It helps carve one’s way, which is even more appreciable as the ski is pintail: the rear is narrower compared to the front. This helps a lot on trajectories, at high speed, in the axis of the slope: stability is very good, even in challenging snow conditions. The Dynastar M-Pierra Menta provides security and makes you want to accelerate. The tail gives the impression of cutting through the snow.
The tail of the Dynastar M-Pierra Menta is a bit firm but not too much, it reassures. However, if you want to produce an academic and satisfying curve, it’s only possible on gentle slopes, on compact snow. Otherwise, the trajectory inevitably involves pivoting/skidding. The Dynastar M-Pierra Menta might assist in entering the curve, but then it releases without maintaining the effects.
On strong pressures, on very hard snow, the tip tends to release. It returns immediately, but it doesn’t provide security. Of course, in soft snow, the phenomenon is much less pronounced.
Don’t ask it to play during the descent; the main goal is to get to the bottom as fast as possible. Facing the slope, even in jump turns, in not necessarily easy snow conditions, the Dynastar M-Pierra Menta finds its way.
