The large-capacity Eastpak Transit’R L travel bag features two standout characteristics. The first is the integration of a lock directly into the structure of the wheeled bag itself. The concept is simple: the zipper pulls from the main compartment fit into the built-in combination lock. Once the code is activated, the bag is secured because the central zipper can no longer be opened. Of course, like most small suitcase locks, it is not completely tamper-proof, but it is sufficient to discourage quick intrusions into personal belongings. Equipping the Eastpak Transit’R L with this TSA Lock security system is therefore an excellent idea, as it avoids the need to carry and handle a separate mini padlock.
The other notable feature of this bag is its ability to take up very little storage space when empty. The upper part of the Eastpak Transit’R L can indeed be compressed down to a height of around 10 centimeters.
In use, this is a practical travel bag equipped with semi-rigid wheels that roll quietly and comfortably, effectively absorbing vibrations. For carrying, it includes two sturdy top handles and one side handle. However, it lacks an additional rear handle. The main top handle on the Eastpak Transit’R L is well designed and solid.
Some reinforced protection is missing on certain edges of the Eastpak Transit’R L, particularly along the upper side corners, which may affect long-term durability. On the other hand, the bottom section is well protected with plastic reinforcement pieces. Once loaded, the Eastpak Transit’R L remains stable when standing upright and can easily be maneuvered with one hand while rolling. The telescopic handle unlocks smoothly, although the plastic reinforcement around the handle tends to wear out quickly.
The fabric used on the Eastpak Transit’R L is durable and resistant to abrasion. It is also water-repellent. Grease marks and scuffs leave only minimal traces on the bag.
Inside, the Eastpak Transit’R L features a large zipped compartment fitted with elastic straps to secure personal belongings. At the top, a small mesh pocket — surprisingly not zippered — provides quick access to small visible items. On the upper flap, another large zipped storage compartment offers additional organization space. The Eastpak Transit’R L provides a total capacity of 121 liters and is available in various sizes and colors. The tested model measures: Height 79 cm x Width 40 cm x Depth 33 cm.
Two wide compression straps complement the central zipper closure to improve security when closing the Eastpak Transit’R L. It is also worth noting the presence of a very large zipped pocket on the top of the bag. Weighing 3.68 kg, the Eastpak Transit’R L sits within the average range for large-capacity wheeled travel bags.
