Head Supershape E-Titan

The Head Supershape E-Titan belongs to the family of skis that we’ve seen appear for the last two years, which could be classified as all mountain skis, but are just wider piste skis underfoot. Why? So, you can use them on softer snow, at the end of the season when the snow is a little softer. But, at the end of the day, they are still piste skis because they have a very long edge length; in general, no rocker and also the tail’s very flat to the ground. And to finish of the tips have a very low lift. Therefore, these Head Supershape E-Titan belong to this family.

What we noticed first with the Head Supershape E-Titan: they are more flexible. This is very good news for smaller builds, you don’t have to use all your might anymore to bend it to your needs. These Head are so easy to use: you don’t need to read a fifty-page instruction manual, you clip in and they’re off, superb.

We really loved the fact they were easy but also had a good dose of performance. The Head Supershape E-Titan aren’t extreme skis but you can go fast: nothing vibrates, they stay married to the terrain and vibrations don’t shoot up your legs. They glide beautifully on the snow, we loved their “soft-touch”, even on icy sections.

In choppy snow, they aren’t bad at all, even if you have to keep an eye on the tips which have a tendency to dive a little. But if your balance is minimally well-placed, they are fine. Another positive point is they pivot easily. You stay on top of the snow without any effort, the width underfoot helps enormously. The Head Supershape E-Titan are therefore pretty good for nipping on the piste edges in the powder for short-sharp turns around the markers at the end of the season, and on piste in melting spring snow early afternoon, where they work wonders: really pleasant.

You can enter into a turn in an upright position using any technique, carving or skidding. You don’t need to lean into them or have a strong angle. They just automatically go onto the edges and ride out, and if you no longer want it, you straighten right up and the skis go flat, it’s riding “à la carte” carte with these Head.

We liked these Supershape E-Titan because they never close you in on steep slopes where there are skiers traversing the piste. At speed you always have control, which isn’t always the case with some skis, if you suddenly need to change your radius. With these Head you can do anything you need at short notice.

The testers loved the feeling of power underfoot. They grip, you feel the weight of quality materials. Even if you push these skis, you know they won’t bend out of shape and the flex is very consistent. The skis are balanced front and rear, there isn’t any accidental deformation.

Carving, the Head Supershape E-Titan still have their own radius. If you want to change it drastically, you have to really put the pressure on, up to a certain limit, then they fight back, don’t grip and understeer. To get to this point, you really have to be aggressive.

They have an interesting radius because when you finish carving a turn you have a radius that allows you to move down the piste, as we’ve already said, the radius isn’t extreme, or tight: it’s consistent, you can see it coming, you can correct it, reposition it and put the skis crossways in an emergency.

The design is very Head DNA, it’s sleek and classy. We like the kind of “electric” feel, the piezo is rather nice. The metal tip-ends are beautiful, a beautifully crafted metal tail completes the whole look. Overall, they are beautifully manufactured. The glide is top-class.

The Head Supershape E-Titan are well-conceived, and designed skis. They have matured with this new mellow side. They are extremely fluid, and the ski/snow contact was described as being really velvety. Beautiful downhill skis with a slight bit of versatility on near-by off-piste.
